2008 Platform
The work on the 2008 platform began with the Precinct Caucuses in February. Resolutions and suggestions were collected and evaluated by the Platform Committee, which held meetings nearly every week in the months of February and March. At the Legislative District Caucus on April 5th, we presented the draft platform. While we waited for the ballots to come from the printers, we went through as much as we could. The platform was nearly completed, but we didn't quite finish. To get it done, we had a special meeting on July 26th.
Final Platform (July 26, 2008)
We put a lot of work into this platform, and we have a lot to show for it.

Platform Development
Suggested changes and additions to this draft platform are collected at the precinct caucuses. Please submit each subject or topic on a separate piece of paper, for easier sorting. To save the committee's time, please email your resolution directly to Sarajane Siegfriedt, as well as bringing it to your Precinct Caucus, so we will have it electronically. In light of those submittals, the Platform & Resolutions Committee will re-examine its present draft 2008 platform, revise it as needed, and submit an updated recommended version for action at the Legislative District Caucus on Saturday, April 5th. On that occasion, in addition to the key function of electing delegates to our State Democratic Convention, we will debate, amend as necessary, and adopt in final form a 2008 Platform for the 46th LD.
In preparing issues submittals for your Feb. 9 precinct caucus, to be considered immediately thereafter by the Platform & Resolutions Committee, please bear in mind the distinction between platform matters (a/k/a "planks") and resolutions. Our Platform is meant to present enduring values and big picture issues, often including suggested solutions to those problems. Resolutions are for shorter-term issues of immediate concern, likely to be resolved one way or another before we begin developing our next platform (2010). The Platform & Resolutions Committee will attempt to identify and group each submittal according to issue and type, either as a suggested Platform plank or a Resolution. Where a number of overlapping submittals appear to address a single issue, the Committee may consolidate them into one or two statements for us to consider as an LD on April 5.
If you would like to be involved in the Platform Committee during this process, to discuss and defend the planks that you presented at the Precinct Caucus, please contact Dean Fournier and/or Sarajane Siegfriedt. Your participation at every level of this process is welcome and encouraged!
