Advocacy and Action Groups

Our list started as a site compiled by Nancy Amidei for the Civic Engagement Project. It has grown quite a bit. Email us at outreach@46dems.com if you would like to add an issue or group to this page, or have additional information or corrections.  We strive for accuracy, relevance, and completeness.

If you wish to stay informed about the progress of issues you care most about, contact one of these groups.  The organizations listed below constitute a spectrum of involvement in these issues.  Some work solely as advocates, others solely on direct action such as helping the homeless and the hungry.  Most of them are involved to some extent in both activities.  A few concentrate primarily on federal legislative issues, and we've noted that when we know it to be the case.

There is an advocacy group for almost every issue. They:

  • Monitor their issues closely,
  • Distribute weekly (or "as needed") Legislative Alerts,
  • Recommend positions on bills and budget items, and
  • Suggest sample messages.

To find an advocacy group on your issue that may not appear below, ask people affected by the issue, ask professionals who work in that field, or ask friends.. Please contact them directly to receive their Legislative Alerts, and let us know about the group so we can add it to our list.

We will be posting Olympia Lobby Days we learn about on our Community Calendar.  If you have dates to add, please let our Outreach Committee know.  To stay informed about political and community events, please join our mailing list.
