Legislative Action Committee (LAC)

Article XIV, Section 3

The Legislative Action Committee shall be a standing committee responsible for developing, and assisting the organization with implementation of, action plans to advance key issues consistent with the District platform. The Committee shall, insofar as feasible, coordinate its efforts with related activities of the WSDCC, KCDCC, and other interested organizations.

Leadership

The LAC is led by Sarajane Siegfriedt, who also serves as the co-chair of the King County LAC along with Steve Zemke. We are proud to have both of the county co-chairs coming from the 46th, as this speaks to our committment as an organization to the values and platform positions held by the Democratic Party.

Legislative Action includes empowering you as citizens to contact our elected representatives on the issues of the day. We have created several website tools for you to do just that!

Advocacy takes work, but with a plan and a little practice, it can become part of our lives, and it's a very important part! Read this article from the October Demogram for ideas on how to get involved. Voting is the first step, but we need to make this a journey.

We are also collecting a list of advocacy groups that track our local councils & boards, the Washington State Legislature and the US Congress. We are working to format that list, and we have the original available in PDF format. Please send us any additional resources that you think we should include on this list.
