Informational Presentation
The Congressional District Chair shall appoint a secretary for each congressional
district caucus. Each congressional district caucus shall also elect one Presidential
Elector, one Alternate Elector, and one member of the State Party Judicial Review
Board.
Any individual may qualify as a candidate for district-level delegate or alternate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention by filing a statement of candidacy designating his or her presidential (or uncommitted) preference and a signed pledge of support for the presidential candidate (including uncommitted status) with the State Party Office by no sooner than (TBD) and no later than May 2nd.
National Delegate Candidacy forms:
- CD delegate to Denver form
Must file if you plan to run for a Nat'l Delegate slot from the Congressional District level. The 7th CD has 5 women and 4 men slots total between Obama & Clinton. 7th Congressional District is any area Jim McDermott represents (most of Seattle and some other areas). If you are elected at the CD level to the DNC, expect to be contacted by all of the folks wanting to run as At-Large delegates, and all of their "surrogates."
- At-Large delegate to Denver
Must file if you plan to run for a Nat'l Delegate slot from the State level. Race is state-wide for delegates, and is where most of the Affirmative Action efforts take place, 17 slots total between Obama and Clinton, divyed between men and women. These people are elected by the DNC delegates elected at the CD caucuses.
- Party Leaders/Elected Officials delegate to Denver
Must file if you plan to run for a Nat'l Delegate slot as a Party Leader or Elected Official. There are 10 slots and are also state-wide. Specifically for those who are a state legislator, city/county council person, on a Democratic Party executive board, Democratic Party PCO, generally in that priority for election.
Each candidate for Congressional District-level National Convention delegate or alternate may use up to three (3) minutes on his or her own behalf for nominating and seconding speeches and a speech by the candidate. The three (3) minutes may be allocated at the candidate's discretion.
